For four years, our bonus room was a multipurpose space, but it always felt like it was missing something. We wanted to turn it into the ultimate entertainment area, and the idea of adding a wet bar quickly became the focal point of our renovation project. Luckily, the room was already plumbed, which made the installation process much smoother.
Step 1: Choosing the Right Cabinets
The first step in our wet bar installation was selecting the cabinets. We wanted something that would be affordable but yet blend seamlessly with the existing decor. After browsing a few options, we decided on cabinets that offered both style and functionality.
Step 2: Installing the Sink and Glass Rinser
With the cabinets in place, the next step was installing the sink and glass rinser. The plumbing was already set up, which made the installation process relatively straightforward. We chose a deep, black, stainless steel sink to handle everything from rinsing glasses to prepping garnishes. The glass rinser was a game-changer, ensuring that our glassware is always sparkling clean and ready for the next round of drinks.
Step 3: Adding the Butcher Block Countertop
Next we needed to install a countertop. We opted for a butcher block countertop from Lowes, which added warmth and a touch of rustic charm to the space. Installing it was surprisingly easy, and the rich wood grain added a beautiful contrast to the sleek cabinets and black steel fixtures. Plus, butcher block is durable and easy to maintain, making it a practical choice for a bar surface.
The Finished Product
Now that the wet bar is complete, our bonus room has transformed into the perfect spot for entertaining. We added a final touch by painting the walls a rich blue using Valspar Midnight Shadow. This added depth and a touch of sophistication to the space. Whether we're hosting a game night or just enjoying a quiet evening at home, the wet bar has become the heart of the room. It’s functional, stylish, and exactly what we needed to take our entertainment space to the next level.
And the project isn’t over yet! In my next update, I’ll be installing live edge shelves above the cabinets, adding both storage and a unique design element. Stay tuned for more!
